January in Yellowstone

We just got back from our annual pilgrimage to Yellowstone. This year we were challenged by the lack of snow in the park. We have never been in winter where you could still see sagebrush poking up out of the snow. They just haven't been getting the huge dumps that typically happen before January. Although, 3 of the 5 days we were there we got snowed on so go figure!

Wildlife sightings were harder won this year. Luckily, we saw part of the Wapiti Lakes pack on our first day as we didn't see them again. They were high above us walking across a mountain so long shots and our group walking along the road trying to keep up/get ahead of them. Bison, big horn sheep, coyotes and a river otter did not disappoint!
